Nationwide rollout of Veraco’s HyGe Eco-Smart technology sets a new standard for nurse safety, infection control, and environmental responsibility.
Smart Dental Care, operating more than 30 dental practices nationwide, has announced a strategic partnership with Veraco to implement HyGe, the company’s innovative Eco-Smart Dispenser Technology.
The rollout, completed in early January 2026, makes Smart Dental Care the first dental group in the UK to fully deploy this technology across its entire network, eliminating the use of single-use plastic wipes and significantly reducing environmental impact.
The announcement aligns with the UK Government’s recent confirmation that plastic-containing wet wipes will be banned by 2027, reinforcing Smart Dental Care’s proactive approach to sustainability, infection control, and staff wellbeing.
A Safer, Smarter Standard for Dental Practices
Traditional plastic disinfectant wipes can generate approximately 124g of CO₂ equivalent emissions per wipe. In contrast, HyGe’s Wipe Rolls are made from 100% FSC-certified cellulose, dramatically reducing plastic use and over-consumption.
For Smart Dental Care, sustainability is not a future ambition, it is an operational responsibility embedded into everyday clinical practice.

Dental nurses sit at the heart of infection control, working under time pressure and repeated manual handling throughout the clinical day. Smart Dental Care’s decision to adopt HyGe reflects a deliberate investment in technology that supports nurses’ daily workflows, reduces unnecessary handling, and improves safety at the point of care.
HyGe’s touchless, sensor-activated dispenser delivers either a dry FSC-approved paper wipe or a perfectly saturated disinfectant wipe on demand. This reduces cross-contamination risk, eliminates plastic waste, and significantly lowers repetitive handling all while maintaining the highest infection control standards.
