HyGe, a plastic-free clinical wipe system that uses advanced, hands-free dispenser technology to deliver wipes without the need for plastic. The move supports Smart Dental Care’s wider commitment to plastic-free dentistry, helping to reduce plastic waste and the environmental impact of everyday clinical practices, while also creating a safer and more efficient environment for dental teams.
The Green Apple Awards are organised by The Green Organisation, an independent, non-profit organisation established in 1994 to recognise, reward and promote environmental excellence worldwide. The International Green Apple Environment Awards recognise organisations that demonstrate environmental improvement through innovation, commitment and practical action. This year, Smart Dental Care was selected as a winner from more than 700 entries submitted from around the world, placing the organisation among this year’s recognised examples of environmental best practice.
The achievement follows Smart Dental Care’s decision to eliminate plastic-based clinical wipes across its practices, replacing them with more sustainable alternatives as part of its ongoing commitment to reducing the environmental impact of dental care.
“We’re proud to have our work recognised by the International Green Apple Environment Awards. Our commitment and dedicated to reducing plastic waste in dentistry has paid off. We’re always looking for practical ways to be more sustainable, and removing plastic clinical wipes was one of the changes we made. We hope it also encourages more conversations around sustainability in dentistry.”
Their winning paper would also be published in The Green Book – the world’s only annual work of reference on environmental best practice – enabling organisations around the world to follow their example.
